Watch Like Crazy
Like Crazy is a wonderful independent movie about young love that runs amuck. The story revolves around Jacob, played by Anton Yelchin, and Anna, played by Felicity Jones. The two meet in college in Los Angeles, Jacob an American studying furniture design and Anna an aspiring writer from England, and they quickly fall for each other. The courtship between the two is innocent and genuine, as soon the two become inseparable, albeit inseparable to a fault. Anna, desperate to remain with Jacob, overstays her student visa so that the two can continue their relationship in the United States. When Anna must go back home to England for a brief period of time she is unable to return to the United States and return to Jacob because she previously violated her student visa. The distance and the time apart throws a major wrench into the relationship between the two. What transpires throughout the rest of the movie is Anna and Jacob struggling to keep their relationship alive during their separation while also trying to find a way that they can be together again. Both Anna and Jacob also serious about pursuing their own professional aspirations, and their unwillingness to compromise that also stands in their way of being together. However, the biggest challenge that their love faces is the presence of other people that they become involved in relationships with while the two are separated from one another. The movie portrays young love in a very realistic way and isn't concerned with whether or not it concludes with a happy ending. Both the performance of the leading actors Yelchin and Jones, as well as the shooting style give the audience insight into an emotionally honest romantic relationship. Whether or not the audience agrees with the vague and non-traditional ending is irrelevant to the fact that Like Crazy is a beautiful and romantic independent movie that's worth seeing.
