Lovelorn is a 2010 romantic drama film directed by Becky Preston and co-written by Preston and James Fanizza. The story revolves around the lives of three college friends - Nate (Phillip James), Stephen (Orlando Seale), and Jessica (Olivia Chappell) - who reunite after several years apart to attend a summer wedding in rural Ontario, Canada.

Nate, a ruggedly handsome musician who is struggling to gain traction in the music industry, is still nursing a broken heart from his recent breakup with his long-term girlfriend and muse, Emily. At the wedding, Nate meets a beautiful and mysterious young woman named Juliette, who captures his attention and inspires him to start writing new songs.

Meanwhile, Stephen, a successful businessman who seems to have it all, is secretly struggling with his sexuality and his feelings for Nate. Stephen and Nate shared a kiss in college, but Nate was not ready to explore his own sexuality at the time, and the moment passed. Now, as Stephen grapples with his own desires and the unwelcome advances of his clingy ex-girlfriend, he must decide whether to come out to Nate and risk their friendship, or keep his feelings bottled up inside.

Jessica, the third member of the trio, is a free-spirited artist who has been traveling the world and living out of a backpack for the past several years. Though she maintains a breezy outlook on life, underneath the surface, she is struggling with her own demons and unresolved feelings for Nate. As the three friends spend more time together, the cracks in their seemingly perfect lives begin to show, and they must confront their fears and doubts head-on.

Lovelorn is a slow-paced, atmospheric film that relies heavily on the chemistry and performances of its three leads. The Canadian wilderness provides a stunning backdrop for the story's emotional highs and lows, as does the haunting original music that Nate performs throughout the film. There are moments of humor and levity, but overall the tone is melancholic and introspective. Fans of indie dramas and character studies will likely appreciate the film's understated style and nuanced performances.
