Mapla Singam is a Tamil romantic comedy directed by Rajasekhar starring Anjali, Yogi Babu and Rajesh Gopalan in the leading roles. Anbu's parents play a game of deception, and they tell Guna's father that Anjali is not fit to be his daughter-in-law. However, they have no choice but to go along with the plan when Guna's father discovers that Anbu's parents have lied to him. They come up with another scheme that involves a fake groom named Singam, who is intended to marry Anjali.
Things take an unexpected turn when Singam turns out to be a real person who has taken on the role of being the fake groom. A hilarious sequence of events unfolds, and the viewer experiences the comedy of errors that ensue.
