Marquis de Sade: Justine is a motion picture by Jesús Franco, based on the original erotic literature from author it was named after. The film takes place in France of the 1700s and centers around the character Justine, played by Romina Power. It is the tragic tale of Justine and her sister Juliette, who must survive on their own in the city of Paris as young women. Justine and Juliet have very different experiences throughout the story. Juliette meets and marries a rich nobleman, while working as a prostitute. Justine goes to prison on false allegations and awaits a death sentence, but miraculously escapes her bondage. While fleeing justice as a fugitive, Justine is caught by the strange and dark Marquis de Sade, who is played by actor Klaus Kinski. The two sisters are caught in a web of intrigue and continue to lead lives that become ever more intertwined. As their fates succumb to the hedonistic worlds of the men in their lives. Juliette discovers that her wicked lifestyle, leaves her wanting and empty. while Justine finds her own virtuous redemption after having been a slave of her suitor.
