Not So Dusty is a 1956 British comedy film directed by Maclean Rogers and starring Bill Owen, Joy Nichols, and Leslie Dwyer. The film tells the story of a former soldier who inherits a pub in a small town and struggles to turn it into a success. Bill Owen plays Dusty, a former soldier who has recently returned from serving in the army. He receives a letter informing him that he has inherited a pub in a small town called Upper Bottoms. Dusty is initially reluctant to take over the pub, as he has no experience in the hospitality industry, but his friend, Ginger (Leslie Dwyer), convinces him to give it a try.

Upon arriving in Upper Bottoms, Dusty discovers that the pub is in disrepair and the previous owner, his uncle, has left it in a state of neglect. Dusty is immediately faced with a number of challenges, including a group of rowdy regulars who are resistant to change and a rival pub owner, Jabez (Sid James), who is determined to put Dusty out of business.

Dusty receives some much-needed assistance from his love interest, Mary (Joy Nichols), a waitress at the pub who helps him come up with creative ideas for attracting new customers. Dusty's unorthodox methods include hosting a talent show and a beauty pageant, both of which prove to be successful in drawing in large crowds.

However, Jabez is not one to be outdone and engages in a number of underhanded tactics in order to put Dusty out of business. Dusty and his friends must band together to save the pub from ruin and outsmart Jabez at his own game.

Not So Dusty is a lighthearted and entertaining film that showcases the talents of its all-star cast. Bill Owen delivers a charming performance as Dusty, a man who is determined to succeed despite the odds against him. Leslie Dwyer provides comic relief as Ginger, Dusty's bumbling friend who is always getting into trouble.

Joy Nichols is delightful as Mary, Dusty's love interest who is both clever and resourceful. The chemistry between Owen and Nichols is palpable, adding a romantic element to the film that is both heartwarming and funny.

The film is also notable for its impressive supporting cast, which includes Sid James as the conniving pub owner Jabez and Charles Hawtrey as one of Dusty's rowdy regulars. The performances of these actors add depth and dimension to the film, making it more than just a simple comedy.
