Derek Charles (Idris Elba) is doing well financially, in fact he is doing so well that he has just received a huge promotion, which he uses to move his wife and young child to a bigger house. Derek loves his beautiful wife Sharon (Beyoncé Knowles) and has no plans of looking elsewhere for female companionship. Derek has accidentally bumped into Lisa (Ali Larter) a temp worker who has just been brought on board to help out. Lisa catches the eye of all the male employees at the firm, and that includes Derek, but Lisa has bigger plans for Derek, and she will be staying on for a few more days to pursue her dreams.
It's Monday morning, and Derek walks into see his regular office assistant out sick and he is replaced by Lisa. Derek finds that Lisa is surprisingly efficient at covering for his assistant, until she forgets to tell him that his wife called. When Sharon quizzed him as to why he never returned her call, he chalked it up to a busy day at the office.
The next day, Sharon stops by to pay Derek a visit, and she is not pleased when she sees what Lisa looks like. But when Marge calls out sick and Lisa ends up staying for another week, things start to heat up.
At the Christmas party, Lisa manages to encourage Derek to take in a few extra drinks, but he is ready to head home to his wife and child. Before leaving for home, Derek decides to take a bathroom break, and to his surprise, Lisa follows him into the stalls.
Derek has to literally fight Lisa off from an outcome that he was not looking for. As soon as he has the chance, he exits the building and rushes home to Sharon. Steve Shill directs this thriller, with supporting roles by Jerry O'Connell as Ben, and Matthew Humphreys as Patrick.
