Once Upon a Time in High School is a South Korean movie that was released in 2004. It takes place during 1978, and focuses on the difficulties of adjusting to a new school environment. It focuses on Hyun-soo, as played by renowned Korean actor Kowan Sang-woo, and his attempts to fit in at a new school. Hyun-soon is placed in a low-level classroom, with a variety of troubled youths. A group of teen gangsters, led by the psychotic Jong-hoon, bully and harass Hyun-soo. He also experiences violence from his teachers, who run a very strict, disciplinarian classroom. Hyun-Soon gets fed up with this violence, especially after it interferes with his love life. So, he starts to train in Jeet Kune Do, the style of Bruce Lee, in order to protect himself. Once Upon a Time In High School was a major success commercially and critically. It was nominated for five 2004 Blue Dragon Film awards, including best film, best director, best screenplay, best cinematography, and best new actress. It won best art direction. It was also nominated for four 2004 Korean Film awards, including best film, best director, best screenplay, and best new actress. It won none of these awards.
