Jack Mays, an artist from a rural, Victorian California town, has the rare patience to sit still for more than a decade, drawing in solitude. When confronted with a terminal cancer diagnosis, he discovers that the key to survival is his community. When it becomes clear that other cancer victims may survive with his help, he finds a purpose to his art that he could never have planned.
