Romantic comedies offer audiences light, funny moments along with some romance thrown in for good measure. Passport to Love doesn't fail to please. It was filmed in two different settings which add to the realism of the movie: The Los Angeles area and present day Saigon. Two best friends emigrate to America in search of a good college education; something their families back home would be proud of. A series of events ensures that their stay will be full of excitement and adventure. Khang is the charming ladies' man, Hieu is his innocent sidekick. Khang falls for the cop who arrested him for DUI, a single mother named Tiffany. Hieu, who is already engaged to an almost perfect girl back home, has a dalliance with a beauty pageant winner, Jennifer, the daughter of his mother's friend. Is it possible that both men find their passport to love in a foreign land? This movie, more than anything, is about the romantic mess some people get themselves in. Suddenly Hieu's mother becomes ill, meaning Hieu must return to Vietnam. Following him in secrecy is Jennifer. Meanwhile, Khang gets a menial job after his monetary allowance is cut off so he can win the love of the police officer. After a while, Khang asks his family back in Vietnam for permission to marry the cop, while Hieu is indecisive as to which girl to choose, leaving him at risk of losing both girls. Directed by Victor Vu, starring Binh Min as Khang and Huy Khanh as Hieu. Ngoc Diep is Jennifer and Kathy Uyen is Tiffany. Shown in Vietnamese with English subtitles, which do not take away from the meaning of the movie. The moral of the movie is that just as a rose is a rose everywhere, so is love, only with different circumstances.
