This 2016 remake of Disney's 1977 original revisits the story of a young boy named Pete and his best friend, a dragon that only he can see. The 1977 original was ambitious in its combination of live action and animation, and the remake makes extensive use of computer-generated imagery to create Pete's fantastic friend and their adventures together. The 2016 film stars Oakes Fegley (Fort Bliss) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World). It was directed by David Lowery (Pit Stop), who also wrote the screenplay along with Toby Halbrooks. The remake was the second of Disney's major remakes of its older properties in the summer of 2016; the first was a new version of The Jungle Book.
