Princess Kaiulani is a film that focuses on the true story of Princess Kaiulani. In the movie, she is first shown as the last heir to the kingdom in her Kingdom of Hawaii. Her life is shown as extremely beautiful being a princess and a young woman. Having been the newest heir, she learns so much about life while she is young. She discovers how to become a good person. However, life turns against her as unexpected evens come into place and ruin her. The princess is shown growing up and getting her education in Victorian England. She is known for being the young daughter of the Hawaiian Princess and a businessman. She soon loses her uncle, King Kalakaua during her teenage years, along with her aunt, Queen Liliu'okalani. Because of her death, she becomes the next heir. As time goes on, the people in her nation are threatened to lose their rights as the U.S. annexation begins to loom. The imposition of the Bayonet Constitution throw her off guard and makes her struggle. The movie then shows the process of the overthrow to her kingdom and how she realizes that they won't stop it at all. She attempts to stop everything by asking officials in the US to stop the overthrow. However, this doesn't change their minds too quickly. She ends up struggling to get everything back into its normalcy and seeing if she should fight for her country and go back to Hawaii or stay in England with her suitor. The princess ended up dying throughout all of these big and fatal problems that her nation had to deal with. She ended up dying on March 6th, 1899 after she gets a cold while swimming and rides a horse during a storm. She ends up with a very bad cold. As she is brought back to Hawaii, she loses her strength and dies from inflammatory rheumatism at the young age 23.
