The 2011 Teen America film Prom, starring Aimee Teegarden and Thomas McDonell was one of the most popular teen movies of 2011, because of its fun and exciting plot. Every teen in high school awaits their prom and seems to always worry about getting a date, what to wear, and how their physical appearance will look like. This film shows just that and how the troubles of everyday life can hindrance teens to having their best prom. The film grossed a box office of $10,130,219, while it earned a 5/10 rating from critics. The movie follows Nova (Aimee Teegarden), the class president has been planning her school's prom. Nova along with her friends, Ali, Mei, Brandon, and Rolo have created spectacular decorations that they have store in their school's shed. Nova has had a crush on her friend Brandon, and has been hoping he would ask her to their prom. Meanwhile, Lloyd, the "invisible shy" guy at school, has been complaining about the prom to his stepsister named Tess, as he has doesn't have a date, but she has been encouraging him to simply ask anyone. At the school, Tyler is confronted by Jordan, his girlfriend who has been assuming he has been cheating on her because of the gold earring she found in his car. Luckily, he assures her of his innocence and everything goes back to normal. The "Bad boy" Jesse has been gone from school lately and has also been showing "unacceptable behavior". Principal Dunnan then talks to him, but still isn't satisfied with his attitude. Mei then finds out that she was accepted to Parsons, which will conflict the plans her and her boyfriend made of them attending their dream University together. All of the stories have deeper meanings and are actual things young kids go through in high school. This movie just shows exactly how stressful graduating can be when you're juggling problems and life challenges. It is a great film for teens, as it will teach them great life lessons.
