Upside-Down Magic is a 2020 Disney Channel original movie based on the children's fantasy book series of the same name by Sarah Mlynowski, Lauren Myracle, and Emily Jenkins. The movie stars Izabela Rose, Siena Agudong, and Kyle Howard. The movie is set in a world where magic is a part of everyday life, and some children are born with special powers. These children are sent to a special school to learn how to control their powers and use them for good. However, Nory Boxwood Horace (Izabela Rose) and her best friend Reina Carvajal (Siena Agudong) don't fit into any of the established magic categories. Nory's ability is to turn into animals, but she often can't control which animal she turns into, and Reina's ability is to create flames, but she can't always control them.
As a result, Nory and Reina are placed in a special class for "upside-down magic" where they are taught by a teacher named Ms. Knightslinger (Vicki Lewis). The class is made up of other children who also have unique or unpredictable powers. The school sees this as a last resort for these students, and they are told that if they can't get their powers under control, they'll be kicked out of the school.
Despite feeling like outcasts at first, Nory and Reina soon find a sense of belonging in the upside-down magic class, and they begin to learn to control their powers in new ways. However, their newfound confidence is threatened when a group of students who are considered 'normal' magicians begin to bully Nory and her friends, and they try to convince the school to close down the upside-down magic class.
Meanwhile, Nory is also struggling with the fact that her father, who is a powerful magician, does not approve of her being in the class. He thinks that she should be able to control her powers on her own and is disappointed that she can't seem to live up to his expectations.
As the pressure mounts on Nory and her friends, they begin to fear that they will lose the only place where they feel like they belong, and their powers will never be respected or understood. Despite the challenges they face, Nory, Reina, and their friends band together and use their unique abilities to save the day and prove to everyone that their upside-down magic is just as valuable as any other type of magic.
Overall, Upside-Down Magic is a heartwarming and visually stunning movie that celebrates diversity, friendship, and the power of being true to oneself. It's a great movie for kids who love magic and fantasy, and it has an important message about embracing differences and standing up for what you believe in.
