The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) is also known as the Mormon Church with headquarters in Salt Lake City. It came into being on April 6, 1830 due to the efforts of the founder Joseph Smith. The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS) is a group that broke away from the main church because of the suspension of the practice of polygamy. The FLDS members wished to continue the practice. In September 2002 Warren Jeffs became the Prophet and President of the group. Prophet’s Prey is a documentary that explores how a man like Warren Jeffs could rise to power and promote underage marriage and polygamy. The film explores Jeffs' life and how he evolved into a man obsessed with power and abuse. His practices soon attracted the attention of a number of legal entities and were soon placed on the Ten Most Wanted List of the FBI. He was charged with sexual assault on a minor and other crimes. Prophet’s Prey is based on the book with the same name by Sam Brower that depicts a madman's vision. The film has been described as a disturbing journey into the activities of the FLDS church, so it may not be suitable for younger viewers.
