Vijay is a struggling poet who writes about the injustices in his world. His political topics do not sit well with his brothers who want him to stop writing and find a real job. They all live in the same house with their widowed mother. Vijay refuses to quit writing and the brothers eventually turn on him and throw him out of the house. He now has no place to live and no money. He finds a brothel and visits, meeting a young prostitute whom he pours his soul out to. She reveals to him that she believes she can help him via her clients.
