A 1962 children's adventure film which centers around a group of kids out on a school trip to Rome. They enter the coliseum and when they exit they discover that they have been transported through time into the past. The children quickly find period clothing which allows them to not stand out too much, robes and sandals. The children discover that their school's headmaster has been taken for a gladiator in the arena. The children then hatch a plot to free him which involves disguises and royal impersonations. They are startled to discover the fruits of their efforts.
