Scenes of a Sexual Nature is a British film that binds together seven vignettes all related by their location in a London park and their subject matter. The film is driven by performances from a star-studded ensemble cast including Ewan McGregor, Catherine Tate, Adrian Lester and other European actors. Scenes from each of the seven stories involve couples who are dealing with issues of sex and love under their own particular circumstances. The first story presented involves a husband and a wife named Jamie and Molly. In their first scene, they are lying together in the park having a conversation about soccer players and orgasms. When Molly notices Jamie staring at a pretty girl across the lawn, she confronts him about it. Jamie lies and says he was looking at the book the girl was holding, which he claims to have read. Molly tests him and demands he tell her what the book was about. Jamie tells her the book is a western about a man who becomes a sheriff, when in reality the book is a philosophical novel by Albert Camus. Molly approaches the girl to ask what the book is really about and confirms that Jamie was lying. Another older couple are named Iris and Eddie. They have just met on a park bench and are chatting about the skyline and reminiscing about their lives. Both Iris and Eddie are widowed. As they talk, they discover that they actually have met before. They slowly begin to recognize each other and remember that many years ago, when they were young, they had a romantic encounter in the same park where they are sitting. The other five couples include gay life-partners thinking about having children, a couple dealing with one partner’s severe mood swings, a couple in the process of getting a divorce, a man having a meal with his paid escort, and a couple on a blind date with one uninterested partner.
