A company of strangers with sordid pasts are booked on a fateful transoceanic flight to China. Each man and woman is escaping the ghosts of their past by starting a new life, or seeking justification in a far away land. The airplane is caught in a horrible storm, and the passengers crash into the sea. When they wash-up on an uncharted island, they are confronted by a mysterious hermit who has the means to transport them back to civilization. Before they are allowed to leave, they must resolve their darkest secrets.
