Slappy and the Stinkers is a delightful 1998 family comedy film directed by Barnet Kellman, starring BD Wong, Bronson Pinchot, and Jennifer Coolidge. The movie follows the playful and mischievous pranks of a group of five fourth-grade students who call themselves "The Stinkers". The film is full of nautical adventures, comedic antics, and heartwarming moments that are sure to entertain both children and adults.

The story begins when a wealthy and eccentric pet-store owner, Mr. Brinway (played by Bronson Pinchot), entrusts the care of his precious pet, a trained sea lion named Slappy, to a group of school children for the summer. The kids are thrilled to be given such an important responsibility, but they soon realize that the sea lion is not as docile as they thought he would be.

Slappy, the mischievous sea lion, has a mind of his own and is constantly getting into trouble. He is always pulling pranks and playing jokes on the Stinkers, and they are at their wits' end trying to control him. However, they soon realize that Slappy is not the only troublemaker on their hands. One of their own, a new student named Monk, is just as mischievous as Slappy.

Monk, who has just moved into town, is a class clown with a knack for playing practical jokes. He is drawn to Slappy like a kindred spirit and takes it upon himself to help the sea lion cause chaos wherever he goes. With Monk's help, Slappy is able to evade the Stinkers' attempts to put him back in his pen and continue to wreak havoc.

However, things quickly escalate when a rival pet store owner, Royce Perkins (played by BD Wong), tries to steal Slappy from Mr. Brinway. Royce will stop at nothing to get his hands on the sea lion, and the Stinkers realize that they have to do whatever it takes to keep their new friend safe.

The Stinkers and Slappy embark on a thrilling adventure, full of twists and turns, as they try to keep the sea lion out of the clutches of Royce Perkins. Along the way, they discover the true meaning of friendship and the importance of taking responsibility.

The movie is filled with hilarious moments, including scenes in which Slappy is dressed up as a pirate and the Stinkers try to sneak him into a movie theater. There are also heartwarming scenes in which the Stinkers discover that they can rely on each other and trust themselves to take on big responsibilities.

The cast of Slappy and the Stinkers is fantastic, with BD Wong bringing his signature charm to the role of Royce, and Jennifer Coolidge stealing the show as the Stinkers' teacher, Miss Winters. The child actors who play the Stinkers are also excellent, with Carl Michael Lindner standing out as the ringleader of the group, Hub.

Overall, Slappy and the Stinkers is a fun-filled adventure that will keep the whole family entertained. The movie celebrates the importance of friendship, responsibility, and creativity, and it does so with plenty of laughs along the way. It's a must-see for anyone who loves a good family comedy.
