Strike is a Polish and German drama movie that is based on actual events in Poland that led up to the formation of the Solidarity labor union. The movie premiered in 2006. The movie follows the life of the fictitious character of Agnieszka Kowalska, who is a woman that works in the Lenin Shipyards of Gdansk. The movie is divided up into three main parts. The first part is about communism in Poland in the sixties under Soviet influence. The second part is about the Polish protests of the 1970's and what led up to the protests. The third part is about Poland in the eighties, which is when the Solidarity labor union was created in the Lenin Shipyards of Gdansk, Poland.
