Sunset at Chaophraya is a 2013 romantic drama film set in Thailand during the Second World War. The movie was directed by Kittikorn Liasirikun with a screenplay written by Preeya Sirisuwan. The film tells the story of two lovers whose love is challenged by the ravages of war. The movie opens with the backdrop of the Japanese invasion of Thailand in December 1941. The story follows the lives of two couples: Nalin (Oranate D. Caballes) and her husband Anan (Nitit Warayanon) and Kobori (Nadech Kugimiya) and his wife La-iad (Piyathida Woramusik). Kobori is a Japanese soldier who is stationed in Thailand with his wife. Nalin is a young Thai woman who works in a restaurant where she meets Anan, a soldier. Nalin falls in love with Anan, but he is already married. However, Nalin is persistent and pursues Anan despite the odds.

The two couples meet each other by chance at the beautiful Chaophraya River in Bangkok. They become friends and spend a lot of time together. Kobori observes Nalin and Anan's relationship and starts to get jealous. Kobori's jealousy intensifies as he sees Anan and Nalin's love grow stronger. Meanwhile, La-iad is slowly losing her mind due to the pressure of living in a foreign country and the racism she faces from the people around her. She confides in Nalin, who tries to help her by giving her emotional support.

As the war progresses, the Japanese army starts to lose ground. The Japanese soldiers are becoming more desperate and start to take drastic measures. Kobori is assigned to a suicide mission, and he knows he will not survive. Before leaving, he confesses his love to Nalin, who is shocked and devastated. Anan also has to leave for the war, and he promises to return to Nalin.

The movie ends with the bombing of Bangkok, which destroys the Chaophraya River pier. Nalin is seen standing amidst the chaos, searching for Anan. The film closes with the ominous voice-over telling the audience that many people did not survive the war.
