Surprise is a 2016 movie that revolves around the life of Jackson, who has his life planned out. He's a successful and intelligent man, with a steady job, a loving girlfriend who adores him, and an upcoming promotion that he has worked hard to achieve. However, things take a sharp turn when he meets Samuel, a mysterious man who claims to be his future self. Samuel tells Jackson that they need to work together to prevent a catastrophic event that will destroy Jackson's life.

Jackson is initially reluctant to believe Samuel's outrageous claims, but as Samuel's predictions start coming true, Jackson must confront the possibility that Samuel is telling the truth. Together, they embark on a mission to change the course of Jackson's life - an adventure that takes them to unexpected places, both physically and emotionally.

The movie is primarily a character-driven plot, as the relationship between Samuel and Jackson undergoes numerous ebbs and flows throughout the course of the movie. John Halbach, who plays Jackson, delivers a solid performance as a man coming to terms with the fact that his world may not be as predictable and unchanging as he thought. Bil Yoelin, who plays Samuel, also delivers a compelling performance that adds an air of mystery to his character.

The cinematography is well done, with each scene carefully crafted to evoke a specific emotion or reaction from the audience. There are many surreal moments throughout the movie that give it a more fantastical, almost dream-like quality. The incorporation of flashbacks and fast-paced montages helps to keep the movie moving along at a brisk pace, while also imparting a sense of urgency to the situation.

One of the most appealing aspects of Surprise is its willingness to engage with complex themes and ideas. The movie tackles questions about fate, free will, and the nature of time itself, providing plenty of food for thought. The characters also undergo significant growth throughout the course of the movie, as they learn to let go of their preconceived notions about themselves and their lives.

The supporting cast is also quite strong, with Keith Allan delivering a standout performance as Jackson's boss, who becomes increasingly involved in the unfolding events. The chemistry between the actors is palpable, and the relationships between the characters feel authentic and believable.

Despite its lofty ambitions, Surprise manages to avoid getting bogged down in its own ideas. The plot moves along at a steady pace, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the audience engaged. The climax of the movie is particularly satisfying, as all of the various plot threads are brought together in a satisfying, if somewhat unexpected way.

At its heart, Surprise is a movie about the power of human connection, and the ways in which our relationships shape our lives. It's a touching reminder that even when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, we are all capable of finding the strength to overcome them. If you're looking for a thought-provoking, emotionally engaging movie that will leave you pondering its message long after the credits roll, then Surprise is definitely worth checking out.
