"The Baby Formula" is a 2008 movie that explores the concept of same-sex couples having biological children without the aid of men. The movie was directed by Alison Reid and stars Angela Vint, Megan Fahlenbock, and Rosemary Dunsmore. The movie follows the life of two best friends, Athena and Lilith who discover their ability to have a biological child together without the involvement of a man. Although hesitant at first, the two decide to embark on a journey to have a child together. They cure the formula as their ‘miracle mud', and decide to market it to lesbian couples who have trouble getting pregnant.

As they experiment with the formula, they also encounter various challenges, including Athena's disapproving mother, the possibility of donor anonymity, and the pressures of marketing their new product. The movie navigates the complex, and often controversial, societal and legal issues surrounding same-sex parenting, HIV, and surrogacy.

Although Lilith and Athena have been inseparable all their lives, their friendship is tested by the emotional strain of their pregnancy, Lilith's romantic interest in the sperm donor, and the difference in their outlook for the future.

The movie, while primarily a comedy, deals seriously with these issues, asking important questions about the ethics and morality of genetic engineering, and the rights of lesbian parents.

Overall, "The Baby Formula" is a heart-warming, thought-provoking, and entertaining movie that explores the complex issues surrounding same-sex parenting in a sensitive and intelligent way. The performances by the lead actors are excellent, and the script is witty, clever, and engaging. While some may find the movie too controversial or too light-hearted, it offers a unique perspective on the issue of same-sex parenting and biological motherhood.
