Brooke Ellison, the first quadriplegic to graduate from Harvard University in 2000, interested Christopher Reeve who became a quadriplegic himself, five years before, in a horseback riding accident. He wanted to make a film about a someone who despite not having use of arms and legs, could make a difference. On the first day of 7th grade, Brooke was hit by a car. Once an active child in sports and dance, she fought to create a new world for herself. Years later, she scored a 1510 out of 1600 on her SAT. Brooke's mother attended college with her, assisting her.
