The Cowboy Way is a 1994 western-themed action-comedy film directed by Gregg Champion and stars Woody Harrelson as Pepper Lewis and Kiefer Sutherland as Sonny Gilstrap, two rodeo cowboys from New Mexico who travel to New York City to find their missing friend Nacho (played by Eduardo Yáñez) who was last heard of being involved in a fake marriage scam to smuggle illegal immigrants into the country.

The film opens with an exciting rodeo scene featuring the two protagonists, Pepper and Sonny, who are competing against each other while trying to win the heart of a beautiful cowgirl named Teresa (played by Cara Buono). After the competition, they receive a phone call from their mutual friend Nacho, who tells them he is in trouble in New York City and could use their help. After some initial reluctance, Pepper and Sonny decide to travel to the Big Apple to find their friend.

Once they arrive in New York City, Pepper and Sonny quickly realize they are not in their natural environment. The film showcases their culture shock as they try to navigate the big city and its inhabitants. They encounter various obstacles, including a language barrier with Spanish-speaking characters, a run-in with a taxi driver who tries to rip them off, and a comedic mishap with a yuppie party where they accidentally ingest hallucinogenic mushrooms.

As they continue their search for Nacho, Pepper and Sonny cross paths with a tough female NYPD detective named Sam (played by Luis Guzmán) who ends up lending them a helping hand in their investigation. Through her connections, they eventually learn Nacho had been involved in a scheme orchestrated by a wealthy businessman named John Stark (played by Dylan McDermott) to smuggle illegal immigrants into the country via a fake marriage scam. The investigation leads them to a showdown with Stark's henchmen in a climactic showdown at a cattle auction.

Throughout the film, the comedy is well-balanced with action and drama, making it an enjoyable watch for audiences. The chemistry between Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland is evident, and their characters' contrasting personalities create many comedic moments. Additionally, the film puts a spotlight on the issue of immigration and how desperate people are willing to do anything to achieve the American dream.

Overall, The Cowboy Way is a fun, action-packed adventure that showcases the comedic abilities of its two lead actors while also addressing a relevant societal issue.
