The Girl Next Door

"In this town, murder became the neighborhood game."

David recalls an experience he had when he was a child and living next-door to the Chandlers. Meg is the Chandler's niece who comes to live with them after her parents die. When she arrives, David immediately develops a crush on her. "Aunt Ruth" is the kind of woman who allows the children from the neighborhood to travel freely in and out of her house. She offers them beer and cigarettes. However, Ruth dislikes Meg and quickly becomes a target to Ruth's abuses. Ruth belittles her, calls her names, tell her that she is a whore, and starves her. As the abuse and neglect gets worse, David and his brother start to notice. David wants to help Meg try and escape her Aunt's cruel antics. However, David himself is too afraid of Ruth himself to do anything. In a feeble attempt to help her escape, David witnesses more atrocities, and gets himself captured as well. Will they ever be able to escape Ruth's iron fist.
