The Greening of Whitney Brown is a story about what happens when a young spoiled preteen is forced to live a normal life. Whitney Brown was the most popular girl in her Ivy League school; her father's job afforded her everything. When her father Henry Brown, played by Aidan Quinn, loses his job, they lose everything. Whitney Brown is devastated. Her posh, cushioned, carefree life is turned upside down. The unemployment of the father causes the family to have no alternative but to move from Philadelphia to the country. The only possession they have left is a farmhouse, and this is where Whitney Brown's grandfather Dusty Brown resides.

Whitney later decides she has to return to her former life so that she can right some of hers wrongs; she has realized what life is really all about. The movie is about getting real. It is a look into the life of a young rich girl, and what it takes for her to recognize she was living in a superficial world. The change in her life helps her to truly find herself. The film was released in 2011. Sammi Hanratty is the star of the film.
