This is a western movie about a man who was recently hanged. Steve Forrest is a gunslinger who was sentenced to death by hanging. Fate is on his side and the hanging goes wrong. In the West, if a man survived a hanging, he was allowed to go free. Now this man will drift until he finds a new passion in life. When he drifts into a small town, this reprieved man finds a local land baron trying to take a widow’s small farm. He decides he has been saved from death in order to help her. He will do whatever it takes to keep the land baron honest.
