The Haunted World of El Superbeasto is based on the comics written by Rob Zombie. It also features the voice of Sheri Moon Zombie; Rob Zombie's wife playing the role of the main protagonist's sister/sidekick, Suzi-X. The film of El Superbeasto was released direct-to-DVD on September 12th, 2009. The entire movie of the Haunted World of El Superbeasto is animated in the 2D style and uses very colorful art throughout in a traditional Americanized cartoon fashion. It starts out with El Superbeasto (Tom Papa), a former masked wrestler, working as an exploitation film actor and director. El Superbeasto and his sidekick Suzi-X set out on a mission to prevent the dastardly Dr. Satan (Paul Giamatti) from taking over the world. This is achieved by getting the mysterious stripper Velvet Von Black (Rosario Dawson) to marry the former wrestler. This entire endeavor is set in the world of Monsterland, where such things are the normal occurrence. The adventure begins on a typical day in the life of El Superbeasto, the macho man protagonist whose main concern daily is dodging random crowds of fans and searching for the current fling of the night. It's on one of these typical days when the foul-mouthed stripper Velvet Von Black is kidnapped by a large ape man and taken to the lair of the evil doctor. The villain has plans of marrying the vixen against her will. El Superbeasto, along with his sidekick, pursue the woman in order to save her from the clutches of a forced committed relationship. Thus ensues the elaborate quest of hunting down the lair, all the while fighting through many hordes of henchmen and assassination attempts. This story is riddled with movie references, wit, clever jokes, and numerous breaking of the 4th wall. Each of the characters also get their own theme songs, in lieu of the stereotypical need for such thing in most animated films featuring a superhero and villain of some sort.
