The King Is Alive is about a group of travelers who are stranded in the desert when the bus they were traveling on runs out of gas. The tourists are completely cut off from the rest of the world, and survive on canned food and dew. One of the tourists is a stage director who persuades the group to perform Shakespeare's play King Lear. The reality of the situation begins to reflect the play they are performing, and not in a good way.
