The Rig, also known as The Platform, is a science-fiction film directed by Peter Atencio. The film takes place on an isolated oil rig during a hurricane. Right before the hurricane hits, all non-essential and inexperienced crew members are sent to the mainland to ride out the storm. As a result of the storm, only a small, but highly experienced, crew is left aboard the rig. Led by Jim Fleming (William Forsythe), the crew includes Wallace (Jacob Bruce), Andrew (Marcus T. Paulk), Carey Fleming (Serah D'Laine), Rodriguez (Carmen Perez), Freddy Brewer (Stacy Hinnen), Faulkner (Robert Zachar), Earl (Dennis LaValle) and Kyle Dobbs (Scott Martin). Soon after the crew begins to settle in to ride out the storm, communication to the mainland is cut off. Although the crew has no way to access help, they aren't worried. In fact, many of the crew have been through similar storms before. However, when crew member Earl disappears, the rest of the crew begins a desperate search for the team member. After an extremely thorough search, the crew assumes Earl must have fallen overboard, and is most likely dead. As the night progresses, crew members mysteriously begin to disappear one by one. Slowly the crew begins to realize that they are not alone on the oil rig. It soon becomes obvious that during the storm the crew's rig disturbed the habitat of an undersea creature. Angry, the creature has begun to take out its anger on the remaining crew of the rig. The crews only hope of surviving their mutant attacker is to bound together, and try to survive until the storm is over and they can call for help. However, the speed with which the creature is picking off team members is increasing and the storm still has hours of pounding ahead.
