Foley (Samuel L. Jackson) just completed a 25 year stint in the penal system, and he is back in circulation, trying to keep his nose clean. He checks in with his parole officer and heads home, only to come face to face with Ethan (Luke Kirby), a friend's offspring from the past. Ethan wants to bring back the past, and some of the money that his dad and Foley were able to make. As a grifter, Foley and his crew scammed a lot of people, and because of it, he ended up killing his partner and friend, but he just can't seem to get the stink of his past from on him. Foley is not interested in getting back into the game, but Ethan has a determination to make it happen, and ends up sending a local hooker by the name of Iris (Ruth Negga) to soften him up. Foley initially blows her off, but after 25 years without female companionship, he is growing increasingly interested. Foley realizes that Ethan has something to do with his new-found affection with Iris, and approaches her about it, she confesses. Foley tries to get Ethan to give her up, but he turns around and drops a bombshell on him. Ethan tells Foley that he has been screwing with his own flesh and blood, and unless Foley plays the game, Ethan will spill the beans to Iris. Foley is having a hard time dealing with the fact that he slept with his daughter, and eventually tries to send her packing. Because she has no idea what Foley is/was to her, Iris is extremely upset and is very hostile towards her father. Foley tries to send Iris away to avoid her finding out about his secret, but because she no longer trusts him, she pops back up on the grid. David Weaver directs this thriller, with supporting roles by Helena as Deborah Kara Unger.
