After achieving success with Napoleon Dynamite, Director Tim Skousen continued in his creation of award winning comedies with The Sasquatch Gang(also known as the Sasquatch Dumpling Gang), which was released in 2006 at the Slamdance Film festival, where it took home the Audience Award. The film became available on DVD in 2008. This quirky comedy is set in the fictional Clackanoma County, Oregon, a verdant and timeless location where VHS tapes and nickel-arcades are still at the height of fashion. The movie tells the twisted story of Zerk Wider(Justin Long), and his cohort, the chicken-nugget loving Shirts Joachim(Joey Kern). These two unemployed anti-heroes have a serious problem that requires an immediate influx of cash and after a botched convenience store robbery they quickly hatch a ludicrous plan to plant bogus Bigfoot evidence in the forest near their home. They are sure that once it is found it will create a media-storm they can us to their advantage to make that quick buck they need to save Zerk's beloved Pontiac Firebird from the unthinkable consequence of repossession. As will happen, Gavin Gore(Jeremy Sumpter), and his ragtag group of "nerds", Hobie (Hubbel Palmer), and Maynard (Rob Pinkston), as Zerk endearingly refers to them throughout the film in his redneck draw, quickly discover the counterfeit giant footprints and large pile of phony Big Foot dung. Raising the alarm with much zeal and excitement, this group of geeks is contacted over the internet by a self-proclaimed Sasquatch expert, Dr. Artemis Snodgrass(Carl Weathers). Snodgrass, with great hopes of verifying the claim and garnering national attention, sets off at once to scrutinize the evidence with his own eyes. This puts the pinch on Zerk and Shirts, who frantically scramble to sell as many of their sham plaster Big Foot molds as they can over the web before their foul plot is made known to the naive public.
