‘Last Holiday’ is an entertaining holiday film that centers around the character of Georgia Byrd, a cookware sales person at the New Orleans, LA location of Kraven’s Department Store. Played convincingly by Queen Latifah, Georgia leads a seemingly boring life and seems content to always wonder ‘what if?’ although she hopes for much better as evidenced in her ‘possibilities’ scrapbook. Georgia has many hopes and dreams, one of which involves her co-worker Sean who is played by L.L. Cool J. Although Georgia decides to be a little more proactive in her life, her decision is cemented thanks to an accident that knocks her unconscious, sending her to the store’s medical clinic. Deciding to perform a CAT scan with the newly acquired scan machine, the clinic’s doctor finds evidence of a tumor that is diagnosed as a rare and terminal disease that soon leaves Georgia believing she only has a short time left to live. Georgia begins looking at her life in retrospect and decides that since she has so little time left she should enjoy what time there is left. Georgia’s life ambition is to become a chef and open her own restaurant so she has followed the careers of several chefs, including Chef Didier played by Gerard Depardieu, who she is a big fan of. Georgia decides to cash in her life savings as well as the assets her mother left her and venture to the Hotel Pupp, a European hotel that features her favorite chef's signature recipes as well as having the opportunity to live it up in the time she has left. Georgia fully throws herself into enjoying the life she believes that she has left and lets herself loosen up as she tries things that she never experienced before. The highpoint of the movie comes as Sean journeys to be with Georgia, having realized his love for her. As the two reunite they learn that the CT machine is defective and that Georgia will live and enjoy the life she's found.
