The Sighting is a 2015 movie directed by David Blair and written by Blair and Adam Pitman. The movie is a horror-thriller that follows two friends, Jack and Jim (played by Kirk Bovill and Potsch Boyd, respectively), as they embark on a camping trip in the backcountry of Montana. Along the way, they encounter a mysterious woman named Sophie (played by Christine Carol), who warns them of the dangers that lie ahead.

As Jack and Jim set up camp, strange things begin to happen. They hear odd noises in the woods and find strange markings on the trees. Jack becomes increasingly paranoid, convinced that there is something out there watching them. He becomes more and more erratic, while Jim tries to keep a level head and figure out what is really going on.

As the movie progresses, it becomes clear that there is something in the woods with Jack and Jim. They catch glimpses of a strange creature lurking in the shadows, and their camp is attacked by an unseen force. Sophie reappears, and the friends begin to realize that they may not make it out of the woods alive.

The Sighting is a movie that relies heavily on atmosphere and tension to create scares. The cinematography is impressive, capturing the isolation and eeriness of the wilderness. The performances by the three main actors are solid, especially Bovill's portrayal of Jack's descent into madness.

One of the strongest aspects of the movie is its use of sound. The filmmakers do an excellent job of building tension through subtle sound cues. The rustling of leaves or the cracking of branches in the distance can send shivers down the viewer's spine.

The Sighting is a slow-burn horror movie that builds slowly toward its climax. It raises questions about what is real and what is imagined, and about the nature of fear itself. The movie can be ambiguous at times, leaving the viewer wondering exactly what is happening. However, this ambiguity is part of what makes the movie so effective.

The movie does have some flaws. The pacing can be slow at times, and the plot can feel a bit disjointed. Some viewers may find the ambiguity frustrating or unsatisfying. Additionally, the movie could have benefited from a bit more character development, especially for Sophie.

Overall, The Sighting is a solid horror movie with an intriguing premise and some effective scares. Fans of slow-burn horror and atmospheric thrillers should give it a watch.
