Uncle Kent 2 is a 2015 independent comedy-drama film which is a sequel to the 2011 movie Uncle Kent. The film stars writer and co-director Kent Osborne as himself, with Joe Swanberg and Jude Swanberg playing supporting roles. The movie portrays Kent Osborne as a semi-fictional version of himself, picking up five years after the events of the first film. In Uncle Kent 2, Kent is still working as an animator, but he is now faced with the challenges of both being a single, middle-aged man and dealing with the increasing commercialization and monetization of the independent animation industry.

Kent is initially resistant to the idea of going to a comic book convention in San Diego to screen his latest short film, as he would have to confront his ex-girlfriend, who is also in attendance. However, he decides to take the opportunity to see his ex and try to win her back, while also exploring his own creative potential and dealing with a strange new romantic interest.

As the movie progresses, Kent's adventures take him to different parts of San Diego and reveal the many strange and surreal aspects of the comic book industry. Along the way, he meets a host of eccentric and potentially dangerous characters, including a group of bikers, a mastermind of comic book piracy, and a stalker who becomes obsessed with his animated alter ego.

Uncle Kent 2 is a humorous and unconventional film, with an experimental style that blends documentary and fiction filmmaking. The movie is largely improvised, with many of the scenes featuring interviews and conversations between the actors, as well as faux interviews with real-life comic book figures.

Despite the movie's obvious humor, it also has several deeper themes, including the alienation and loneliness of middle age, the search for artistic fulfillment, and the moral ambiguities of the creative industries.

Kent Osborne's performance is charming, witty, and often self-deprecating, playing on his own public persona as a somewhat obscure and quirky indie filmmaker. Joe Swanberg and Jude Swanberg also deliver strong performances as Kent's friends and confidants, with the latter providing some of the movie's more poignant moments.

The movie has a visually pleasing style, with beautiful shots of San Diego and its landmarks providing poetic counterpoints to the more absurd and surreal moments of the story. The animation sequences are also highly stylized and visually inventive, and are a testament to Osborne's skills as an animator and illustrator.

Overall, Uncle Kent 2 is an enjoyable and thought-provoking movie, with a unique and highly experimental style that seeks to explore the many complexities of the comic book industry and the creative pursuits of independent filmmaking. The movie provides plenty of laughs, but also has a deeper, more serious side that will resonate with audiences looking for something beyond the usual Hollywood fare.

Uncle Kent 2 is a 2016 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 13 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.3 and a MetaScore of 54.
