Vampariah is a 2016 horror/fantasy film directed by Matthew Abaya and written by Aureen Almario. Set in the Philippines, the movie follows the story of a young Filipino-American named Mahal, who discovers that she is a Vampariah, a creature that is part vampire and part warrior. As a child, Mahal's mother was killed by a group of vampires, and she was rescued by a group of vampire hunters led by her father, who raised her as one of their own. Mahal's training in martial arts and vampire hunting has made her a formidable fighter, but she struggles to find her place in the world and to reconcile her human and vampire sides.

When a group of vampires begins to target her and her family, Mahal sets out to find and destroy them before they can do any more harm. Along the way, she is aided by her half-brother, Noel, and a mysterious stranger named Miguel. Together, they face off against a powerful vampire queen and her army of undead creatures.

The film is notable for its use of Filipino mythology and culture, incorporating elements such as the aswang, a mythical creature that is often depicted as a vampire-like monster. The filmmakers also incorporate Filipino martial arts into the fight scenes, giving the movie a unique flavor that sets it apart from traditional Western-style vampire films.

Aureen Almario delivers a strong performance as Mahal, channeling both her humanity and her inner warrior. Alex Benjamin and I-Li Chang Brice provide solid support as Noel and Miguel, respectively, while the rest of the cast also turn in strong performances.

Visually, the film is impressive, with beautiful cinematography that captures the lush landscapes of the Philippines. The special effects are also well-done, particularly in the scenes featuring the vampire queen and her minions.

While Vampariah may not be the most original or groundbreaking vampire movie, it's a solid entry in the genre that successfully blends horror and fantasy with elements of Filipino culture. Fans of vampire movies and martial arts films should definitely check this one out.

Vampariah is a 2017 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 31 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.0.
