Myrna Loy, in her first starring role, plays an orphan who is attending school with a much richer friend. She vows to do whatever it takes to not be poor anymore. After school, she becomes a governess and gradually rises in British society. The title is the name of a place from John Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress."
