Watch Vista Point: Chiang Mai

Vista Point: Chiang Mai is a tourism/travel special that was released straight to DVD in 2007. Chiang Mai is the largest city in Northern Thailand. The city was founded in 1296 and was a part of the Lanna Kingdom. Centuries later the Lanna Kingdom began to lose its power and was a part of Siam in 1775. Besides its city history, Chiang Mai has over 300 Buddhist temples for its citizens and tourists to pray in. Each year Chiang Mai has three Thai festivals in which the locals celebrate- Loi Krathong, a celebration in November which honors the Water Goddess, Songkran- which is held in mid-April that has parades and a beauty contest, and Chiang Mai Flower Festival- a three day event that is held on the first weekend of February. Chiang Mai is a city where nature and religious events are being held and honored throughout the year.
