In 2007, a portion of the poem "The Wound Dresser" (1865) by Walt Whitman was inscribed into the granite at Dupont Circle Metrorail Station in Washington, D.C. In this site-specific performance on May 24, 2014, performers rode the escalators with smart phones, cassette recorders and hand-held sound producers. Morse Code + MIDI transcription of the inscribed stanza serves as the basis of the music.
