Watch Wild Country
- 1 hr 7 min
Kelly Ann (Samantha Shields), distraught after giving her baby up for adoption, goes on an overnight hiking trip with four friends that ends up changing her life. On the way to the Scottish countryside, Father Steve (Peter Capaldi) of the St. Aidan's Youth Club, frightens the young hikers by telling them about the frightening legend of cannibals that terrorize the area. Kelly Ann and Lee (Martin Compston), the father of her baby, wander off at night and find an old castle. Inside the castle they discover an abandoned baby and the remains of a man who has been devoured by a wild animal. Kelly Ann and Lee determine that the castle is the home of a dangerous beast and quickly go back to their campsite to warn their friends. The hikers abandon their camp and attempt to find help. Along the way Kelly Ann grows emotionally attached to the baby and breastfeeds it. On the way to safety, though, one of the teen-agers falls down a ravine and is killed by the wild animal. After fleeing the beast the remaining hikers decide that the best strategy is to kill the beast back at the castle before it attacks them in the open countryside. They succeed in killing the animal but are soon confronted by the dead animal's mate, who promptly kills another one of their friends. Kelly Ann and the baby eventually escape alone to a house and find Father Steve and his friend Missy (Karen Fraser). Kelly Ann tells Father Steve of her harrowing evening but he does not believe her story. Father Steve, though, quickly realizes Kelly Ann is telling the truth after the animal shows up and kills Missy. Father Steve escapes to the bedroom where Kelly Ann is breastfeeding the baby and discovers that Kelly Ann and the baby have transformed into beasts themselves. The baby turns out to be the baby of the beast and it infected Kelly Ann when it bit her while breastfeeding. Kelly Ann then kills Father Steve and goes off with her baby to meet up with the surviving beast to form a new family.
