Released in 2006, Wilderness is a British-Irish thriller/horror production. The plot begins when one of the prisoners of a British juvenile detention institute named Dave, played by John Travers, commits suicide after being bullied with his friend by two sociopath inmates while being neglected by other inmates. As a result, the young offenders along with their strict commanding officer named Jed and other inmates are sent to a distant island to help them get along with each other and improve their individual characters. The distant island was used in the past as a British Army training camp, but presently acts as a prison training camp. As the men further explore the island, they find out that they are not the only ones in it. They encounter a campsite with two young offenders of the opposite gender along with their respective parole officer. The film's plot enriches into a story of betrayal and revenge. Unexplained murders begin to happen. One of the offenders gets their leg cut from a bear trap and eventually lands their head on another bear trap after falling. Meanwhile, an officer gets shot by a crossbow three times, nailing him to a tree. A pack of German Shepherds then run to the officer and pause for a moment. Eventually, they brutally kill the officer who is helpless and nailed to the tree. Eventually, the men figure out that they are being murdered one by one by the father of a boy who committed suicide, a special forces member. Now faced with a deadly threat, the two groups of offenders and one of their jail officers decide to team up to survive what is to come from the plans of the vengeful father and his vicious pack of canines. As the father hunts each of them down, he uses a crossbow as his weapon of choice and wears a camouflage to avoid being seen. The two groups that are now united are led by Callum, who is played by Toby Kebbell. Wilderness also stars Alex Reid as Louise, Stephen Wight as Steve, Luke Neal as Lewis, Ben McKay as Lindsay, and Adam Deacon as Blue. The film lasts for a total running time of 110 minutes or nearly 2 hours. The movie was directed by Michael J. Bassett and was produced by the combined efforts of Robert Bernstein, John McDonnell, and Douglas Rae. A budget of £3 million was set for the production of the film. Dave's vengeful father is played by Stephen Don.
