Ziddi is a 1964 Hindi film which features Joy Mukherjee, Asha Parekh, and Mehmood in leading roles. Directed by Pramod Chakravorty, the film is a romantic drama that revolves around the story of a headstrong young man who falls in love with a beautiful girl, but their love is threatened by internal family issues. Joy Mukherjee plays the role of Ashok, a young man who has just finished his studies and is now returning home to his village. However, he's not aware that his father has married Kusum (played by Kamla Asrani), a woman who is disliked by Ashok's entire family. Despite this, Kusum establishes a special bond with Ashok and they become close friends.

Meanwhile, Ashok meets Shalini (played by Asha Parekh) and they fall in love with each other. Shalini lives with her widowed father (played by D.K. Sapru) who is against the idea of her marrying Ashok as he thinks he is not suitable for her. However, Ashok is determined to win her father's approval and sets out to prove himself worthy of her love.

As the story progresses, it is revealed that Ashok's elder brother (played by Ulhas) is actually Kusum's husband and he is not dead, as everyone thought. He returns to the village and creates tension within the family. However, Ashok stands by Kusum and supports her when no one else does. In the end, Ashok's brother realizes his mistake and accepts Kusum as his wife. Shalini's father also gives his blessings for their marriage and the film ends on a happy note.

Ziddi was praised for its storyline and character development. It portrayed the social issue of discrimination towards widowed women and challenged societal norms. Asha Parekh's performance was highly appreciated, and she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her role in the film. Joy Mukherjee also gained popularity with his portrayal of a young, rebellious man who stands by his beliefs.

The film's music, composed by S.D. Burman, was also a big hit. Songs like "Raat Ka Sama", "Yeh Meri Zindagi", and "Choo Lene Do Nazuk Honthon Ko" continue to be popular to this day. The film's cinematography and direction were also praised and contributed to its success.

Overall, Ziddi is a classic Bollywood film that beautifully depicts the themes of love, family, and societal norms. It stands as a testament to the enduring power of Hindi cinema and remains a favorite among audiences to this day.
