- November 27, 2010
Adaalat is an Indian television series that aired from 2010 to 2016. Season 1 episode 2, titled Jungli Maanav, follows the story of a man accused of killing his wife.
The episode opens with lawyer K.D. Pathak (played by Ronit Roy) attending a lecture by a wildlife conservationist, Dr. Aakash Sinha. During the lecture, a man named Mahesh Singh (played by Manoj Bidvai) bursts in and accuses Dr. Sinha of killing his wife. Mahesh claims that Dr. Sinha is having an affair with his wife, and that he killed her out of jealousy.
K.D. Pathak is intrigued by the case and decides to take it on. He goes to visit Dr. Sinha in his office, where he is confronted by the wildlife conservationist's wild animals. K.D. is not amused, and tells Dr. Sinha that he doesn't believe in his cause.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Singh is arrested for the murder of his wife. K.D. Pathak is hired by Mahesh's brother to defend him in court. K.D. is up against the prosecutor, who is determined to prove Mahesh's guilt.
As the trial begins, the prosecution presents evidence against Mahesh Singh. They present a video of Mahesh attending a party on the night of his wife's murder, which seems to contradict his alibi. The prosecution also presents a witness who claims to have seen Mahesh arguing with his wife on the night of her murder.
K.D. Pathak cross-examines the witness, and discovers that she had a motive to lie. She was in love with Mahesh, and had hoped that by testifying against him, he would be convicted and she could have him to herself.
K.D. also investigates the murder scene and finds evidence that suggests that Mahesh is innocent. He discovers that there was another man at the scene of the crime, and that he is the real killer. K.D. Pathak returns to court and presents his evidence, which leads to a dramatic revelation.
In the end, Mahesh Singh is acquitted of the murder of his wife. The real killer is arrested and brought to justice. K.D. Pathak's brilliance and determination have once again helped an innocent man get justice.
