Aggretsuko Season 1 Episode 5: Exposed

In this episode of Aggretsuko, we see Retsuko feeling overwhelmed as she tries to balance her responsibilities at work and her love life. She's been having secret dates with Tadano, the tech entrepreneur, but she hasn't told anyone at work about him yet. Meanwhile, her boss, Director Ton, is pressuring her to work on a new project that she doesn't have any interest in.

At the beginning of the episode, Retsuko is daydreaming about Tadano during a meeting when Director Ton interrupts her and demands that she come up with a proposal for the new project by the end of the day. Retsuko panics and starts to scramble to get it done, but she keeps getting distracted by thoughts of Tadano.

Finally, she decides to take a break and go on a secret date with him. They have a lovely time together, but when Retsuko returns to work, she sees that the proposal deadline has passed, and Director Ton is furious with her. She tries to explain herself, but he won't listen and threatens to fire her.

Feeling desperate, Retsuko decides to write a song about her frustrations and performs it at a karaoke bar that night. However, she accidentally leaves her notebook at the bar, and it's found by Gori and Washimi, her co-workers. They read her lyrics and realize that she's been hiding her relationship with Tadano from them.

The next day, Gori and Washimi confront Retsuko about her secret boyfriend and try to get her to open up about it. Retsuko is embarrassed and defensive, but eventually, she admits the truth. Gori and Washimi are supportive of her and promise to keep her secret safe.

Meanwhile, Director Ton is still angry with Retsuko and assigns her to work on the new project with Haida, her co-worker who has a crush on her. At first, Retsuko is annoyed by the assignment, but she starts to realize that Haida is a good listener and helps her come up with a great idea for the project.

In the end, Retsuko turns in the proposal on time and impresses Director Ton. She's relieved that her job is safe, and she's grateful for the support of her co-workers. She realizes that it's okay to let people into her life and that she doesn't have to hide who she really is.

Overall, this episode is a great exploration of Retsuko's struggle to balance her personal life and her professional responsibilities. It's relatable to anyone who has ever felt pressured to keep a secret or like they're living a double life. The subplot with Haida is also intriguing, as it hints at a potential love triangle between him, Retsuko, and Tadano. The episode is well-written, funny, and emotionally engaging. It's definitely worth watching if you're a fan of the show!
