Ep 1. Time to Grow Up

Aggretsuko season 2 episode 1, Time to Grow Up, picks up where the first season left off. Retsuko, the red panda, spends her days working in the accounting department at a Tokyo trading firm, but at night she transforms into a death metal karaoke singer to relieve her daily frustrations. The first episode of season 2 finds Retsuko in a bit of a rut. She's still stuck in her job, still single, and still living at home with her parents.

As the episode begins, Retsuko's coworkers are all in celebratory moods because of a new hire in the company. Retsuko, however, is feeling left out and unimportant. Retsuko's boss even begins to question whether she's still happy with her job.

After work, Retsuko meets up with her high school friend, Puko, who is now living in Tokyo and making a living as a social media influencer. Puko is everything Retsuko isn't: confident, self-assured, and in control of her life. Puko tells Retsuko that she needs to take control of her own life and make some changes if she wants things to improve.

Feeling inspired, Retsuko sets out on a new mission to improve her life. She starts by cleaning up her apartment and getting rid of all her old stuff, symbolically clearing out the old to make room for the new. She also decides to take up yoga, hoping that it will help her relax and find some inner peace.

But change isn't easy, and Retsuko quickly meets some obstacles. Her yoga class is full of young, fit people who she feels don't belong there. She struggles to keep up with the poses and feels like a failure. Things don't get much better at work, either. Retsuko is still stuck doing the same old tasks, despite her best efforts to show her boss that she's capable of more.

Despite these setbacks, Retsuko perseveres. She continues to work on herself and try new things, even if they are uncomfortable at first. And slowly but surely, she starts to see some progress. She begins to feel more confident in herself and her abilities, and even starts dating a new guy.

Overall, Aggretsuko season 2 episode 1 is a hopeful and inspiring start to the new season. It shows that even when things seem bleak, there's always hope for change and improvement. Retsuko is a relatable character who struggles with the same things many people do: balancing work and personal life, feeling stuck in a dead-end job, and struggling to find meaning and purpose. But by taking small steps towards change and growth, she shows that it's possible to overcome these struggles and find happiness and fulfillment.
