They set off for Isarava Village with a short detour to check out the Japanese war memorial. The area where the Japanese soldiers had abandoned their ammunition. It would also be the first day since the trek commenced that Brad will see other trekkers passing in the opposite direction.

Brad and his team set off for another big day of climbing and descending the harsh terrain along the Kokoda trail. After arriving into Camp 1900, Brad decided to jump into the frigid waters of a nearby creek.

Due to Brad being physically exhausted and with severe gastro, him and his team spent the morning at Brigade Hill. The site of one of the bloodiest battles between Australian and Japanese soldiers during the war. It was a short trek to Efogi village where they stayed the night, sleeping on his first mattress since the trek commenced.

This day was one of the most challenging days for Brad. The day began with severely muddy conditions and mosquitoes, followed by the amazing river and creek crossings. Later that day, Brad would be pushed to his limit during the steep climb to Brigade Hill. During the climb, he had collapsed from exhaustion and not able to feel his legs and feet.

After a long day of hiking on day 1, Brad is feeling the pain in his shoulders. They set off for a full day of climbing and descending through muddy terrain, grass fields, and push through Brad's onset of chafing. Brad's air mattress also blew out which meant having to sleep on the hard ground.

Brad begins a 3 hour drive from his accommodation in Port Moresby to the beginning of the track with his guide and food porter. On the first day, Brad and his team had made over 20 river crossings with undulating muddy terrain. There was torrential rainfall on the track and throughout the evening at the camp site.

Brad is prepared for the adventure of a lifetime by flying into one of the most dangerous cities in the world, Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea, two days before commencing the Kokoda trek. The day before the trek, he visited the Bomana War Cemetery to pay his respects to the Australian soldiers that lost their lives along the Kokoda trail.
