Ep 5. Murder On D Street

The trio begins their investigation, which leads them to discover the animal heads, and their connection to another murder that occurred on the same street, D Street.

The investigation then leads the trio of detectives to an abandoned apartment. Inside, they find a body that is yet another victim of the animal head killer. While their investigation leads them down many false leads, they eventually find a clue that points them in the direction of the real culprit. The investigators ultimately find that the animal heads have connections to another significant character from the series, Mori Ougai.

The episode concludes with Dazai and Atsushi meeting with Mori Ougai, who confirms that his subordinate, Akutagawa Ryuunosuke, is involved with the case. Mori wants to turn the case over to Dazai and his crew, but not without exchanging some words with Dazai first.
