Ep 2. What They Saw in Southie High

It's 1990 and tensions are running high in Boston's criminal underworld. Every precinct is under scrutiny from the FBI, including Southie High, where Assistant District Attorney Decourcy Ward (Aldis Hodge) and FBI agent Jackie Rohr (Kevin Bacon) are investigating allegations of police corruption.

As the episode opens, Jackie is seen browsing a pornographic magazine at a strip joint, before being called to a stakeout with Decourcy. Together, they're keeping tabs on corrupt police officers who are robbing drug dealers, with the help of a snitch. The two men are clearly at odds, with Jackie's devil-may-care attitude clashing with Decourcy's by-the-book approach.

Meanwhile, a group of three black students at Southie High have reported that they were falsely accused of possession. Decourcy, unsurprisingly, takes a personal interest in the case, but learns that the school's principal has already closed the book on it.

Undeterred, Decourcy and Jackie start looking into the allegations anyway, and meet with the three students to gather more information. A scuffle breaks out when some local trouble-makers arrive on scene, but the situation is quickly defused.

Later, Decourcy meets with the principal, who admits that the students were probably telling the truth, but that the police would never believe them. Decourcy suggests they launch an investigation, but the principal is hesitant, knowing all too well the risk of retaliation from the local cops.

The episode ends with Jackie and Decourcy continuing their investigation, but being met with resistance every step of the way. Despite this, they remain determined to see justice served.
