In this episode of Countryfile, the team heads to the southernmost region of Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway. This beautiful corner of the country is home to some of the most diverse landscapes in Scotland, from rugged coastlines to rolling hills and wild forests.

Presenter Sean Fletcher starts his exploration of the region by visiting the home of Stewartry Rugby Club, where he meets with the club's members and learns about the history of the sport in Scotland.

Next up is a trip to the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory where Sean meets with astronomer John Brown to explore the wonders of the night sky. The observatory, which is located in a remote area of the Galloway Forest Park, is one of the best places in the UK to stargaze and has been awarded Dark Sky Park status.

Elsewhere in the episode, presenter Tom Heap visits a family-run dairy farm to see what life is like for farmers in Dumfries and Galloway. He also meets with a group of young farmers who are keen to keep the farming tradition alive in the region.

Presenter Margherita Taylor takes an exhilarating ride on the back of a quad bike with local farmer Andrew Jackson, exploring the rugged countryside and learning about the challenges of farming in such a varied landscape.

Finally, presenter Ellie Harrison visits a nature reserve on the Solway coast where she meets with the WWT's Stuart McQuaker to learn about the importance of the reserve to wildlife in the region. She also gets up close to some of the birds that call the reserve home, including the stunningly beautiful little egret.

Overall, this episode of Countryfile is a celebration of the beauty and diversity of the Dumfries and Galloway region, showcasing everything from its fascinating history to its stunning natural landscapes and the hardworking people who call it home.
